A dictionary defines ability as, “possession of the means or skill to do something.”[1]

If you have a specific talent or if you are proficient in something specific, it means that you have the ability to do such things. Perhaps your ability in the family is to cook well. You provide nutritious meals, and you enjoy doing it.

Or perhaps you are a handy person, you enjoy fixing things. So, you buy a house and fix and update everything to suit the needs of your family.

Your individual abilities contribute to the health and well-being of the entire family. Hoarding selfishly your abilities, hurts you, and your family. Paul said about the church members in Macedonia that, “according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,” 2 Corinthians 8:3 (NKJV) These people gave not just what they could, but went beyond that, in order to help their brothers and sisters in Corinth.

Be generous with your Ability to help and benefit your family.
